Marianne Samaritano, 85, passed away on March 11, 2023
at Hackensack University Medical Center in New Jersey. Born and raised in Staten Island, New York,
Marianne lived on the Upper East Side of Manhattan for a time before settling in Hackensack, New Jersey.

After graduating St. Joseph Hill Academy High School,  Marianne worked as a paralegal for
Seward and Kissel and then Hill, Betts and Nash, both NYC law firms
specializing in matters relating to the maritime industry.

Her expertise in maritime law, led her to become
the president of the Women's Traffic Club,  an organization providing opportunities to network and
create relationships and understanding between those involved in the transportation industry, from 1986 to 1987.
She retired in 2000 and dedicated herself to helping raise her great-nieces, providing a weekly routine
of trips to Dunkin Donuts and visits to the Library.

Marianne enjoyed going to the ballet, opera performances and Broadway plays in NYC. She frequently travelled to Europe, loving Italy the most, but her favorite place to visit was Bermuda.

"Marianne was a quick-witted woman," said her family. "She was independent and extremely sharp-minded, with a passion for reading and knowledge. She was well liked by her peers and everyone that knew her loved her."

Marianne Samaritano was the beloved daughter of the late Salvatore Samaritano and Mary (nee Simblo); loving
sister of Annette Talt and adored aunt of Debbie Harari and Francine Talt. She was adored by
her great nieces, Ariel Harari, Danielle Harari and Logan Shae Talt.

A. Azzara Funeral Home, 183 Sand Lane, Staten Island, NY 10305
has been honored with arranging the funeral for Marianne.
Visiting will be on Wednesday from 4pm to 8pm. There will be a funeral mass on Thursday at
Holy Rosary Church in South Beach beginning at 9:30am. Interment follows at St. Mary's Cemetery in Grasmere.
