WWII veteran worked for General Foods
Statin Island, NY -- Former Oakwood resident Paul Yagos, 92, a World War II
Veteran, died Monday in Kimball Medical Cente, Lakewood, N.J.
Mr. Yagos was born in Manhattan and moved to Oakwood as a joung man. He moved
To Whiting, N.J., in 1982 and settled in Jackson, N.J., in 2006.
Mr. Yagos served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was stationed
Throughout the United States. After the war, he worked for General Foods Corp. In White
Plains for 25 years before retiring in 1982.
He was a member of the American Legion Post in Whiting.
Mr. Yagos was an avid baseball fan.
His son, Stephen P., died in 2004.
Surviving Mr. Yagos are his wife of 63 years, the former Betty Altenburg; a son, Donald J; a daughter, Linda s. Goltz; four grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

Statin Island, NY -- Former Staten Islander Betty J. Yagos, 88, a retired secretary,
Died Sunday at her home in Jackson, N.J.
Born in Townville, PA, she lived in Oakwood and Grant City for 35 years before relocating
To Whiting, N.J. She settled in Jackson, N.J., in 2006.
Mrs. Yagos worked as a secretary at Wagner College, Grymes Hill.
Throughout the United States. After the war, he worked for General Foods Corp. In White
Plains for 25 years before retiring in 1982.
She sung in the choir at Christ Lutheran Church, Whiting.
In Her Leisure hous, she enjoyed crafts, sewing and quilting.
Her husband, Paul, died in 2009. Her son, Stephen P., died in 2004.
Mrs. Yagos is surviving by her son, Donald J; a daughter, Linda s. Goltz;
four grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
